Knowledge comes with experience
The Coronel family moved closer to Buenos Aires in order to be closer to their extended family.  Her brothers worked on construction sites whilst her sisters commuted to the capital to work as domestic helpers.    In 1972 she lived with other members of her family in a small house with only three rooms.  At that time there were 50 habitants in her suburb of San Norberto.  It was a time when tarred roads were a luxury let alone the concept of running water, heating or gas for cooking.  Electricity only arrived with the installation of heavy industry in nearby zones.  Several years later the state built a road so that children could get to the local high school and back.      Her first experience with community organizations was at a very young age when she helped out in a neighborhood center set up by the Catholic Church.  There she assisted in a crèche facility run by single mothers.  She also gave up her free time to work as a volunteer in a soup kitchen and give Sunday School lessons.  That is where she first learnt the notions of community spirit and neighborhood involvement.  For Luisa these acts where not for her own personal pride but more so for the improvement of her community at large.

Luisa is an example of how each member in a community has a role to play in their own neighborhood.  A value which she strives to instill in the youth of her suburb.  Her experiences have taught her that change doesn’t happen only, rather it happens with the effort of each community member.

Currently Luisa is a neighborhood promoter in the municipality of San Norberto and also an original member of the Trust Fund for Gas.  She is also a part of the Accessory Works Commission.  Luisa tells us that her desire to change and improve quality of life in her neighborhood is her greatest passion.  She remains convinced that the alliance between residents and the Foundation will be of invaluable benefit to the community.  As a mentor in her suburb and is always willing to help those in search of advice.  Her impressive service to community work has brought together the knowledge and skills required to unite and motivate the people to bring about self determination.
