Local Development: Cruce Derequi
-General information on the population of Cruce Derequi:

-To date, in the studied area live 8 500 families- based on a survey, there are on average 4.5 people per family, so this would amount to 38 250 people. The average age is of 28 and a half years. For each family the average time spent in the area is of 16 and a half years-The 56,86% of the inhabitants of Cuartel V where born within the province of Buenos Aires, and barely 13,12% within the municipality of Moreno.

The Project:

To work in the area of Cruce Derequi (North-eastern Greater Buenos Aires), as a model to the many other areas and neighbourhoods that need to be consolidated. We estimate that there is in the metropolitan area of Buenos Aires, at least another 10 areas with similar characteristics where the experience could be replicated. This tool will allow us to move from 15 000 people with the Solidarity Network Trust fund (FRS-the first infrastructure project of the foundation) to 50 000 people of the area of Cruce Derequi. In the case of the project being successful, this model could be useful for the government to try and apply it to other similar areas of Greater Buenos Aires.

The better living plan (plan mejor vivir)

The government has planed to build 33 000 new homes in Greater Buenos Aires with the "better living plan". These works anticipate sewage network systems and treatment plants. The world bank will charge itself with the financing for the forthcoming years on works of road and health infrastructure, through the provincial government, for a total of 200 million pesos (aprox. 53.5 million dollars) to be applied in the metropolitan area.

Objective:

The Project has the end goal to promote processes of local development in the border areas in between the municipalities of Jose C. Paz, Moreno y Pilar, characterized for its condition as being on the urban periphery of the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires and composed of a dense social network.

Desired Results:

Improve the infrastructure systems and public services in the area of Cruce Derequi, and create a model of local development which can be replicated in other areas.
